The Other Side of the Coin: The Righteous Among the Nations of the World
This presentation will deal with more proactive examples of human behavior exhibited by the Righteous Among the Nations of the World. Even 50 years after Yad Vashem began officially recognizing them, these heroes are far less known than the war criminals of the Holocaust. More significantly for Poland and other Eastern Bloc states, many of these individuals remained unswervingly committed to their values and continued to fight totalitarianism that was introduced after World War II by the Soviet Union. The Righteous evidence the truth of words penned by the late Rabbi Hugo Gryn: “Evil is real. So is good. There is a choice. And we are not so much chosen as choosers.”
