A Tale of Two Characters

Learning Context

Purpose: to assess students’ ability to compare and contrast two characters from similar genres.

Goals: Students will be able to
• Complete a venn diagram;
• Write a paragraph comparing and contrasting two characters

Enduring Understanding: Interacting with text.

Essential Questions:
• How do we compare and contrast two characters?

Guiding questions:
• What are some characteristics of the restaurant owner?
• What are some characteristics of the shoemaker and his wife?
• How are they similar?
• How are they different?

Objective:
Students will be able to:
• compare and contrast two characters
• use a graphic organizer
• read fluently for understanding

 

Grade Level and Ability: The students are instructed on a second grade level, however, many of the students are academically below level. There are five students on or above grade level. There are three students who receive speech and two students with an IEP who are labeled LD (learning disabled)
