Crucible Connections
introduction
This Learning Experience is the product of the capstone course EDU 327-Teaching to the Standards, which is a course that is paired with student teaching at Daemen College (Amherst, NY). In this course, student teachers, like myself (at the time), must document how course work and practicum experience have prepared them for a career in teaching by writing a learning experience based on their student teaching experience.
In brief, a learning experience is a lesson (or series of lessons in my case) along with results, reflection, review, revision, and examples student work from the lesson. My learning experience "Crucible Connections" is based off of a series of lessons that I taught to conclude a five-week unit on The Crucible during my first student teaching placement at North Tonawanda High School. This Learning Experience and the unit it is from was prepared for and implemented in a Regents-level 11th grade English classroom.
