Performance Indicator:

1.M.2 Use non-standard units (including finger lengths, paper clips, students' feet and paces) to measure both vertical and horizontal lengths.

Learning Objectives:

Students demonstrate prior knowledge about the comparative nature of measurement.

Students are able to select non-standard units and use them to measure consistently both vertically and horizontally so that results may be reproduced (accurately)

Students choose and use appropriate non-standard units to measure real-world items. Items may be measured vertically (like a wall; tall) or horizontally (like the floor; flat).
