Time Required

This learning experience can be implemented over two days. Each activity can be completed within a scheduled math block of one hour as per the Investigations Math Program. The hour is broken into whole group activities (15-20 minutes), followed by Choice Time activities (20-30) minutes. After Choice Time, students return to the whole group setting to discuss strategies employed during Choice Time.

• Planning: 30 minutes for gathering manipulatives, planning, preparing charts, and workheets
• Implementations:
  • Day One- Pre-Test 10 minutes
    Whole Group 20 minutes
    Choice Time 30 minutes
  • Day Two-Whole Group 15 minutes
    Choice Time 20 minutes
    Post Test 10 minutes
• Assessment- scoring Pre-Tests and Post Test, On-Off Chart (5-10 minutes per child)
• Schedule-The Buffalo Public School’s District Math Curriculum requires a strict sequence for math lessons. The learning experience fits into the Buffalo Public Schools schedule during the Choice Time portion of the lesson which follows the districts second grade curriculum.
